SCHOOL!

September 4th, 2013 | | |

This has all been so exciting and overwhelming, but here we are! School has started!

These two have been so excited to get started! Not one tear was shed today…ok, maybe I shed a couple…but the girls were so brave and so grown up! I really can’t believe we are doing this! And…here I am sitting in a quiet house while Ryker naps! I hardly know what to do with myself.

Oh, my sweet Raven! She has been looking forward to Kindergarten all summer! In the last few months she has really come out of her shy shell and really shown how brave she can (and wants!) to be! We visited her school yesterday for the ‘Treasure Hunt Adventure’ finding all sorts of treasures…her teacher, her desk, her cubbie where she hangs her backpack, and putting away all of the treasures that she brought (school supplies). When I was talking with her about today I asked her if she would want me to walk her to her classroom for the first day to help her get settled and find her desk again. She said, “No, its ok Mom. You can just drop me off.” So I did. She just put her backpack on, hopped out of the car and off she went. I don’t think she knows what she is in for when it comes to full day Kindergarten, but I am so glad she is happy to go!

Then there is this little munchkie! She was a little nervous, but I think it helped that we sent Raven off to school first. She has been hearing all about Little Feats School from her big sister, so she knows a little bit about what to expect. As we were driving from Kings to Little Feats she seemed a little nervous about me dropping her off and asked if someone was going to come get her from the car (like Raven’s carpool). After assuring her that I would walk her in, she looked so relieved. Once we got there she was a bit timid, holding onto my leg and sticking close. As soon as we got her all checked in and washed her hands, we saw her teacher and she walked right into her room!

I am so proud of my big girls! The tears are such a happy feeling – watching them grow up to be independent. to make their own friends. to learn from their teachers. I am releasing them into the world, praying that the Lord with be with them to guide them and instruct them well. Praying for their teachers as they spend so much time with our kids. Man do I love these sweet little beauties!
